Terms of service
Effective November 1, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and ProjectRate (projectrate.app) for using the app. By creating an account or using ProjectRate, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
1. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 and using ProjectRate for your work or business. If you use it for a company, you confirm you’re allowed to accept these terms for that company.
2. Early access
ProjectRate is in an invite-only beta. Features may change, appear or go away, and there may be interruptions. We work hard to keep your data safe, and you can export it at any time, but please keep your own copies of anything important, such as the invoices you send.
3. Your account
Keep your sign-in details private. You’re responsible for what happens in your account, and should tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
4. Your content
Your clients, projects, time, invoices, receipts and other things you put in ProjectRate stay yours. You give us permission to store, copy and display them only as needed to run the app for you, such as making your PDFs, emailing invoices you send and showing them to your clients. You confirm you have the right to give us anything you upload, including information about your clients.
5. You check your invoices
ProjectRate does the math and drafts things for you, but you’re responsible for what you send: amounts, rates, taxes, dates, and following the laws and tax rules that apply to you. ProjectRate isn’t tax, legal or accounting advice. Features that read receipts, voice or text use AI and can make mistakes, so check what they fill in before you save or send it.
6. Getting paid
ProjectRate helps you bill your clients, but it isn’t a party to your agreements with them and doesn’t collect or hold their payments. Payment links and services you add (such as a bank, PayPal or Venmo) are between you, your client and that service. Any dispute with a client is between you and them.
7. Email you send through us
Invoices and reminders you send through ProjectRate go out on your behalf. Only send them to people you do business with, and don’t use ProjectRate to send spam or anything misleading.
8. Paid plans
The beta is free. If we offer paid plans, we’ll show the price and what’s included before you pay. Plans renew automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel any time; you keep paid features until the end of the period you paid for. Payments are processed by Stripe. Taxes may be added where required. We’ll tell you before a price change applies to you.
9. Fair use
Please don’t:
- break the law, or help anyone else do so, using ProjectRate;
- upload anything harmful, such as viruses, or anything you don’t have the right to share;
- try to get into other people’s accounts or data, or get around limits and security;
- overload, copy, resell or reverse-engineer the app, or use bots to scrape it;
- pretend to be someone you’re not.
10. Ending things
You can stop using ProjectRate and delete your account at any time (Settings, then Plan & data). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. Where we reasonably can, we’ll warn you first and give you a chance to export your data. If we ever shut ProjectRate down, we’ll give you notice and time to export.
11. No guarantees
We provide ProjectRate “as is.” As far as the law allows, we don’t promise it will always be available, error-free or suited to a particular purpose.
12. Limits on liability
As far as the law allows, ProjectRate isn’t responsible for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data or a client who doesn’t pay. Our total responsibility for any claim about the app is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $50. Some places don’t allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
13. Claims about your use
If someone makes a claim against ProjectRate because of content you uploaded, invoices or emails you sent, or your breaking these terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim.
14. Law and disputes
The laws of the State of California apply to these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, unless the law where you live gives you a right to bring it elsewhere. Before going to court, please contact us so we can try to sort it out.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as ProjectRate changes. We’ll update the date above, and for important changes we’ll let you know by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using ProjectRate after that, the new terms apply.
16. Contact
Questions about these terms: use Help & support in the app (More, then Help & support). A contact email will be posted here soon.
